Weizen Heimer Hefe Weizen Release Tonight!

Barley and Hops is pleased to announce it’s first of two summer seasonals, Weizen Heimer Hefeweizen, a traditional Bavarian wheat beer. Developed by two local homebrewers and members of Frederick’s Original Ale Makers (FOAM), Jim Sawitzke and Pieter Huiberts, the recipe took reserve best-of-show at the Great Frederick Fair in 2010. The beer is made according to very traditional German methods including its use of Weinstephan weiss yeast from the prized brewing school in Germany. The wheat ale features a complex nose of banana character and hints notes of clove like spices, along with a crisp lemony finish. Just don’t expect the beer to be served with a lemon, that is a Bavarian faux pas. The beer will make its way to the Barley and Hops line up on tonight, Tuesday July 5th at 4pm.
