Keg Return Amnesty Week

Are you one of those people that have an overdue library book sitting on your shelf from 3 years ago? Do you know someone that got a keg from Barley and Hops that has forgotten to return the empty cooperage? Barley and Hops’ kegs can do a lot more that just serve as an extra chair or as a sawhorse in your garage.

For the next week, we will turn a blind eye and open arms to any empty Barley and Hops kegs you may have forgotten to return. Not only will we not chastise you or publicly flog you, but we will reward you. Bring us an overdue keg and Larry will buy you a beer!

And of course, we expect to see you all on the 26th for the release of Shenandoah Gold, a refreshing German Rye Pilsner.

Shenandoah Gold Rye Pilsener July 26th!

Our second summer seasonal, Shenandoah Gold Rye Pilsner, releases on July 26th! It’s a crisp hoppy pilsner that will beat the heat of those Dog Days of summer so come in and get some. You can also take it home in growlers or order a keg!

What do you need to drink at your party this summer? Need something good to drink on tap on your home draft system? Barley and Hops beers are just what you need!! We have kegs available in 5 or 15.5 gallon sizes. The best beer at the best prices in town. 8-10 varieties to choose from! Call Barley and Hops @ 301-668-5555 to order a keg.

Weizen Heimer Hefe Weizen Release Tonight!

Barley and Hops is pleased to announce it’s first of two summer seasonals, Weizen Heimer Hefeweizen, a traditional Bavarian wheat beer. Developed by two local homebrewers and members of Frederick’s Original Ale Makers (FOAM), Jim Sawitzke and Pieter Huiberts, the recipe took reserve best-of-show at the Great Frederick Fair in 2010. The beer is made according to very traditional German methods including its use of Weinstephan weiss yeast from the prized brewing school in Germany. The wheat ale features a complex nose of banana character and hints notes of clove like spices, along with a crisp lemony finish. Just don’t expect the beer to be served with a lemon, that is a Bavarian faux pas. The beer will make its way to the Barley and Hops line up on tonight, Tuesday July 5th at 4pm.
